"For over 25 years, I've been teaching kids to build their own amazing toys—toys that spark the imagination and bring learning to life!"  ~ Rick Hartman, founder, School of Toy

OUR STORY

Rick "Mister Toymaker" Hartman is a former classroom teacher and professional toy inventor who started building toys with kids back in 1994 as part of an afterschool arts program.

What began with just a small group of children blossomed into School of Toy, and today Rick's workshops have been attended by over a million students in more than 6,000 school visits around his hometown of Seattle, WA, and across the U.S.

In 2020 School of Toy launched its first series of On-Demand Workshops to support teachers nationwide during the Covid pandemic.  These virtual workshops caught on, and the rest is history.

Today classrooms EVERYWHERE can experience the educational magic that happens when "Mister Toymaker" teaches students how to use the simplest of materials and their own imaginations to create toys jam-packed with learning, laughter and fun!
